Although we have over 160 staff, we still cultivate the same atmosphere that we had when we could all fit around a pub table for our annual Christmas party, a staff only affair with ample opportunity to wind down at the end of the year. We also have an annual, family focused summer party with plenty of food, drink and entertainment. We know that a young family can offer challenges, and we are always flexible, offering support and advice whenever it’s needed.
Growing the future
Growing our own people is one of our core values with many people choosing to spend over ten, twenty or even thirty years with us. We embrace apprentices, work experience students and encourage family members to join the Ideaworks family. We are a multi-generational business with partners, children and siblings all working together. We are a family.

I joined Ideaworks in 2017 as a Business Admin Apprentice in Manufacturing. Within a few months I was able to go on site visits to see first-hand the final install. After manufacturing I moved over to Stores where I was involved in testing our new stock management software – Kaizen. It was great to be involved and see how the warehouse evolved.
My next role was as a CAD Design Technician within the design team where I produced CAD drawings and design documents, working closely with Project Managers, Lighting Designers and Project Designers. I decided this wasn’t the role for me and Ideaworks were supportive in allowing me to progress to a rack builder role. I built and helped install the racks as well as completing any other in-house engineering requests.
When a vacancy presented within the Infrastructure Team my experience within the rack build team enabled me to move into this role and I am now responsible for the installation of cabling systems on complex projects in both the UK and Europe.

Time together
Our teams spend time working together delivering projects all over the world. But they also spend time together when not working. Whether that be down the pub, doing charity events, visiting different Parkruns each weekend or helping out in the community. Lifelong friendships are built at Ideaworks and even some marriages too! We also bring the whole team together 3 times a year at our Summer party, Christmas party and Ideaworks Day; a day where we all come together to recap on the last year and look forward to the year ahead.
Doing the Right Thing
“Doing the right thing” is the Ideaworks mantra, so it seemed only logical to apply that mantra to the community we live in and the environment we all share. It’s easy to write about our ambitions, but we’re focusing on actions instead. Actions our Environmental team have taken that have halved the energy use of systems we design or halved the waste we produce. Actions that include partnering with local schools for training and employment. And because we can do so much more together than we can apart, we are proud to be founder members of WE ARE PRIME.
